Hej alla Finnjolleseglare i Sverige!
Svensk segling har blivit en seglingsprofil och tränarkapacitet fattigare. Don Nordqvist som så tragiskt omkom i Spanien i onsdags, seglade Finnjolle under många år - innan han startade upp Seglargymnasiet i Motala.
Genom åren lärde jag känna Donning som en stor seglingsentusiast, som alltid hade funderingar och idéer på hur vi skulle kunna utveckla Svensk segling.

Tack Torsten.
Under rubriken hedrande av Donning så kan jag passa på att skriva lite också.
På det personliga plantet kom Donning att betyda mycket för mig.
Som många andra som håller på med segling kom jag i kontakt med Donning när jag seglade Laser som ung. Svårt att undvika... Och när man hade honom som tränare så sa han alltid allting utan att "linda" in sina kommentarer i någonting. Ni kan tänka er själva vad en 100+ kg laserseglare fick höra...
Men sen kom dem riktiga Donning fram. När jag och Fredrik började i Starbåten var ju coach-valet naturligt. Och tur var det. Donning hade en förmåga att svetsa mig och Fredrik samman - men framför allt - att driva oss framåt en och en och kunna se hur han skulle skilja oss åt för att få oss starkare. Donning var snäll (upplevdes det som), men han visste också varför och att det behövs i vissa relationer. Utan Donning hade vi inte nätt de framgångarna vi gjorde. Donning hade sin del med i det.
Det fina med Donnings sätt var att han lät andra individer växa på hans bekostnad. I efterhand, även innan detta hände har jag tänkt på detta och med stigande ålder insett vad detta måste kostat för honom personligen.
Donning gick sin egen väg, men denna gången alldeles för tidigt.

Det som nu hänt är så fruktansvärt tragiskt.
Kan bara inte fatta att Du är borta.
Vi seglade,reste,planerade träningar och
lektioner,coachade,semestrade tillsammans och
hade en varm vänskap.
Du hade alltid ett 100%-igt engagemang.
Mina tankar är nu först och främst hos
Din Familj.

Hej alla Finnjolleselgare!
För en liten stund sedan, kom jag tillbaka till Karlstad. Begravningen började kl. 15:00 i en absolut fullsatt Motala Kyrka. Begravningscermonin varade i drygt två timmar.
Vi som var närvarande, fick ta ett mycket samstämt och fint avsked av "Donning".
Efter cermonin i kyrkan, var det minnesstund vid Jolleklubben. Kaffe och smörgåstårta och tal av representanter från Motala Riksidrottsgymnasium och Svenska Seglarförbundet.
Ps. Don Nordqvist minne lever kvar. Bland annat genom den Minnesfond som Seglargymnasiet och Svenska Seglarförbundet startat.
Vid skolavslutningen ska ett stipenium delas ut till en seglarelev som arbetat bäst i "Donnings" anda.
